The Dec. 12 monthly meeting of the Clifton ASAP (Advocating Solutions and Progress) Group will feature a guest speaker, CJ Griffin, a leading OPRA attorney who will discuss the Open Public Records Act and answer questions from the public.  The meeting will begin promptly at 7 P.M. at the Allwood Public Library located at 44 Lyall Road, Clifton. All are welcome.

CJ Griffin (CJG) is Partner at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden in Hackensack.  Griffin has litigated hundreds of cases under the Open Public Records Act throughout the State, including: North Jersey Media Group Inc. v. Twp. of Lyndhurst, 229 N.J. 541 (2017); Gilleran v. Twp. of Bloomfield, 227 N.J. 159 (2016); In re New Jersey Firemen’s Ass’n Obligation to Provide Relief Applications under Open Pub. Records Act, 230 N.J. 258 (2017); North Jersey Group Inc. v. Office of the Governor, 451 N.J. Super. 282 (App. Div. 2017).

Griffin is the sole author of PSWH’s OPRA Blog (www.njopra.com) and has also published the several OPRA-related articles, including: “The Noncommittal Glomar Response: Depriving the Public of the Right to Know Whether Public Records Exist,” NJ Lawyer (June 2017); “Public-Private Partnerships May Be Subject to OPRA,” New Jersey Law Journal (Nov. 6, 2014); “Using New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act as a Litigation Tool,” New Jersey Corp. Counsel Assoc. Newsletter (December 2014); and “How to Use NJ Open Public Records Act to Get the Scoop,” Law360.com (Sept. 8, 2014).

She presently is Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey, where she frequently serves as cooperating attorney on a pro bono basis.

Griffin received her law degree from Rutgers-Newark School of Law in 2009, where she was Research Editor for the Rutgers Law Review.  Following law school, she clerked for the Hon. Ariel A. Rodriguez, Presiding Judge of the Appellate Division.  In 2017 she received a “Professional Achievement Award” from the NJSBA’s Young Lawyer’s Division.
