CJ Griffin Quoted in Article Discussing Rejection of Records Request During Pandemic
CJ Griffin, Director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, was quoted in an article in NJ.com, “Public records requests rejected by Murphy administration during pandemic. GOP wants to stop that.” The article discusses a bill introduced by a Republican state lawmaker to amend the 2005 Emergency Health Powers Act so it cannot be used to reject requests for records pursuant to the Open Public Record Act relating to the state’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis.
CJ Griffin, an attorney who runs a public-record blog in New Jersey, argued that transparency is even more essential “during a war and during a public health crisis."
“And the public is starving for information now," Griffin said. “They want to have confidence in government."
