CJ Griffin Quoted in NorthJersey.com Discussing Lyndhurst Election Court Order
CJ Griffin, partner at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was quoted in the NorthJersey.com article, “Bergen County judge orders five candidates be restored to Lyndhurst election ballot.” CJ represented the candidates running for the Lyndhurst Board of Commissioners election as the Clean Sweep 07071 slate - David Sivella, Elaine Stella, Darwin Belen, Brian Chiswell and Mykolas Perevicius. The candidates’ names were removed from the ballot in mid-March after the Lyndhurst Clerk determined a number of signatures on petitions were not valid. Accepting CJ’s arguments, the Court ordered that the Clean Sweep 07071 candidates be put back on the ballot for the May 11 election.
CJ Griffin, attorney for the Clean Sweep ticket, said the procedures were too stringent and leaned toward removing signatures from the petitions.
"The judge made it clear that the presumption is supposed to be enfranchising the voters," said Griffin.
She said they are happy that Sivella, Stella, Belen, Chiswell and Perevicius will be placed on the ballot and there will be "a real election where voters get to decide based on policies and ideas and candidate preferences on who should run the government."
