Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C.'s Client Canna P Farms Receives Site Plan Approval for Cannabis Cultivation and Manufacturing Facility in Newark, NJ
Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. congratulates its client Canna P Farms on receiving site plan approval from the Newark Central Planning Board for its 67,467 square foot cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility.
Poised to be the first cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility in Newark, Canna P Farms and its state-of-the-art facility will help revitalize an industrial area of the city. In addition to creating a significant number of construction jobs over the next year, Canna P Farms will look to hire up to 50 full time employees to develop high quality flower and cannabis products for customers across New Jersey.
Sean Mack, co-chair of the Cannabis and Hemp practice at Pashman Stein, and Kelly Carey, Of Counsel at the firm, represented Canna P Farms over the past few years to navigate the complicated cannabis approval process before the state’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission and Newark authorities. The process included scouting site locations, negotiating a long term commercial lease, and drafting corporate documents. The site location process included addressing specific zoning ordinances that restrict cannabis facilities to certain industrial sections of Newark and impose minimum distance requirements from schools, parks, public housing, and a number of other locations.
The law firm assisted Canna P Farms with regulatory compliance and the pursuit of licenses including applications to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission for Annual Licenses for Class 1 Cultivation and Class 2 Manufacturing, application to the Newark Cannabis Committee and Municipal Council for approval to be the first of only five possible cultivation and manufacturing facilities to receive a local license in Newark, and then two applications to the Newark Central Planning Board, first for a conditional use approval for the location and then for site plan approval for the facility.
