Hackensack, NJ (January 29, 2025) - Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. is pleased to announce that Michael J. Custer has joined as counsel in the firm’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors’ Rights practice. Custer is based in the firm’s office in Wilmington, Delaware.

“We are thrilled that Mike has chosen to re-enter private practice as a member of our growing group,” said John Weiss, Chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors’ Rights practice. “Mike’s previous 12 years in private practice with prominent law firms in Delaware, followed by over six years as a career law clerk for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, will no doubt prove to be invaluable to our group and clients of our firm. We look forward to working with Mike as a member of our team.”

Prior to joining Pashman Stein, Custer worked for an Am Law 100 law firm in Delaware, representing a broad range of clients in bankruptcy proceedings as well as state law proceedings, including debtors, creditors’ committees, liquidating trustees, asset purchasers, foreign representatives, ad hoc committees, and secured and unsecured creditors. He represented plaintiffs and defendants in bankruptcy-related litigation matters, and counseled clients regarding the negotiation and drafting of contractual terms related to both bankruptcy matters and financing transactions.

In addition, Custer served as a career judicial law clerk to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for over six years, primarily for Chief Justice Magdeline D. Coleman (ret.). In this role, he provided counsel regarding legal and factual issues in bankruptcy proceedings under chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. He was responsible for drafting opinions, bench memoranda, orders, and other Court decisions, and for managing the caseloads and administrative priorities of the Court.

Custer received his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston College.
