Seth A. Goldberg, partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice and co-chair of the Cannabis & Hemp Law practice, was featured in a Philadelphia Business Journal article titled, “Pashman Stein Walder Hayden has Planted its Flag in Philadelphia, Hiring Away the Cannabis Industry Practice Leader from Local Law Firm Duane Morris.” The article highlights Goldberg’s recent move to Pashman Stein and the opening of Pashman Stein’s Philadelphia office at One Commerce Square.

Goldberg joined Pashman Stein on February 24, 2025, after practicing law for 22 years at the Philadelphia office of Duane Morris LLP and four years at Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP. His litigation practice focuses on complex commercial disputes and class actions for clients in a range of industries, with an emphasis on health care and pharmaceuticals. He is also recognized by Chambers as a leading lawyer nationally in cannabis.

Goldberg will lead the growth and recruiting strategy for the new office, which opens on March 1, 2025. Further expansion in Philadelphia and southern New Jersey will focus on corporate law, real estate, litigation, and intellectual property.

Stein said he first got to know Goldberg when Pashman Stein and Duane Morris worked together as co-counsel…in a litigation matter several years ago. He came away from the experience impressed with Goldberg professionally and personally. In addition, Stein said Pashman Stein has been interested in entering the Philadelphia market for quite some time, as the firm has had to turn away work because it does not have boots on the ground in Pennsylvania.

The 30-year-old Pashman Stein joins other full-service North Jersey law firms in the Philadelphia market such as McCarter & English, McElroy Deutsch and Gibbons. Stein said factoring in similar billing rates, close geography and economies boosted by health care and life sciences, North Jersey and Philadelphia are synergistic legal markets.

"We're kind of excited by the prospect of growing the hospital and pharmaceutical work that we've done by coming into the Philadelphia area," he said.

With the opening of the Philadelphia office on March 1, 2025, Pashman Stein will have 5 offices in four states: New Jersey, New York, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
